You can watch the video here. During the clip, you can hear Pearl Jam’s singer playing parts of his ‘No more’ (previously known as ‘No more war’), an anthem against the war, presented during his latest live appearances. The documentary score will also feature another unreleased Vedder song, written and played by him and called ‘Long Nights’, about Tomas Young’s life and which can be heard playing background, together with the aforementioned ‘No more’, in the trailer on the website. At the moment, the documentary release date is still to be announced.

21.00 “Pearl Jam at The Police show in Vancouver + Vedder working with Sean Penn?”The Police, the historical band consisting of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, played a Fan Club show in Vancouver on May 27, their first one after splitting 23 years ago. Ed Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were at the show, together with Peter Buck and Mike Mills of R.E.M. Below, a picture taken backstage at the concert:

Charlie Musselwhite, a famous American bluesman, has confirmed that Ed Vedder is working on Sean Penn’s next film project, ‘Into the wild’, which Penn wrote and directed. Musselwhite has recently been in a Seattle studio with Ed Vedder and Sean Penn, working on the soundtrack to Penn’s latest movie, due out 21 September (U.S. release date). It is based on the book ‘Into the wild’ by Jon Krakauer and is about the young, idealistic Christopher McCandless, who abandons life as most of us know it for the Alaskan wilderness. Cast and other movie info are available at this Imdb page. At the moment, there is no specific information about the songs that Ed Vedder wrote for the movie and the soundtrack release date has not yet been determined.

In other news, the Seattle Times has recently reported that Sean Penn (with wife Robin Wright Penn) has been seen with Pearl Jam’s singer after the “Grey’s Anatomy” Look-Alike contest at Hotel Monaco, in Seattle, on May 17. The actor and the musician are rumored to be collaborating on Penn’s next film project. More info to come soon.
22.00 “Pearl Jam’s “Big wave” in “Surf’s Up” soundtrack” 20.00 “Ed Vedder on the new Rolling Stones DVD”Ed Vedder will be featured on the upcoming Rolling Stones DVD, which is called “The Bigger Bang” and documents the 2005/2006 tour of Mick Jagger’s and Keith Richards’ band. The duet with Pearl Jam singer on “Wild Horses”, from the 28th September 2005 show in Pittsburgh, when the Seattle band opened for the Stones, will be amongst various duets included on the DVD. 20.00 “Too Tough To Die: premiere & more details”The Ramones official website (www.ramones.com) has just announced that ‘Too Tough To Die’, a documentary about the regretted guitarist of the legendary punk band, Johnny Ramone, will premiere on June 29th at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California (here you can find the event’s flyer, which will be hosted by Henry Rollins, Marky Ramone & Linda, Johnny’s widow).
The documentary consists of two parts:
– the first one is dedicated to the Ramones 30th anniversary concert, which took place Semptember 12th 2004, just three days before Johnny’s death and automatically turned into a tribute to Johnny. Ed Vedder, amongst other participants, was there and played two Ramones classics, ‘Sheena is a Punk Rocker’ (mp3) and ‘I Believe in Miracles’, together with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Bad religion’s Brett Gurewitz and Marky & C.J. Ramone;
– the second part covers the cerimony of the unveiling of Johnny Ramone’s monument at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which took place in 2005. The memorial includes heart felt, emotional speeches by Johnny’s inner circle of friends: Pearl Jam singer Ed Vedder, Vincent Gallo, Rob Zombie, John Frusciante, Pete Yorn, Nicolas Cage, Seymour Stein, president of Sire records, the guitarist’s widow Linda, Tommy Ramone and C.J. Ramone.

18.00 “New entries by McCready & Gossard from the Tenclub”Pearl Jam’s official website (www.pearljam.com) has just published two entries by the band’s guitarists.
The first one is a short interview Mike McCready gave to Ten Club where he talks about the upcoming release of “Live at the Gorge 05/06”. The guitarist reveals that the Gorge ‘is the most beautiful place’ he has ever played and that the band choose to release the three shows played in 2005 and 2006 in this location because they were ‘kind of book ends’ to their U.S./Canadian/world tours from 2005 and 2006. McCready also reveals that his friend Chris Adams, who he met through the CCFA, ‘wrote the set list for the first Gorge show in 2006, upon Ed’s request’ and that the day of the second show he had brought his family along and on Sunday afternoon before the show he got to meet some fans. Mike has also said that the band is always thinking about new ways to make their music available to their fans and fans of live music.

00.00 “Pearl Jam’s new release: Live at the Gorge 05/06”The Ten Club has just announced the release of “Pearl Jam Live at the Gorge 05/06”, a limited-edition 7CDs box set documenting the three wonderful shows played by Pearl Jam at the Gorge in 2005/2006. The release date is June 26th, 2007 through the band’s own label (Monkeywrench Records). A Pre-Order for the exclusive Ten Club version of “Live at the Gorge 05/06” is already open to active fan club members only (at the cost of $34.99 -plus shipping-, the packages will ship after June 20th), while the pre-sale will open to the general public beginning May 9. The release date for retail outlets will be June 26th. 23.00 “Ed Vedder live @ Kokua Festival: new song”Over the last weekend, Ed Vedder & Boom Gaspar played the Kokua Music Festival in Honolulu (Hawaii). Predictably, the two shows have brought some interesting news for all Pearl Jam fans. The most important one: Vedder presented a new song (provisional title: ‘No more war’), and played it acoustic. Introducing the song during the first night, Vedder revealed that he wrote it just three days before, so it is very likely that this is one of the songs Vedder declared he was working on for the score of ‘Body of war’ documentary, as previously reported here . The new song has been played the following night too, but full-band this time. A video of the new song, taken from the first night, is available here:

Synergy has also confirmed that this is the band’s only scheduled U.S. date for 2007.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Mike McCready has revealed that after the last tour ended, band members have been demoing material on their own while staying in occasional contact via email and that he has tested out some ideas with guitarist Stone Gossard and drummer Matt Cameron in separate sessions as well. Talking about future Pearl Jam projects, McCready has said that Pearl Jam has “no set date” for returning to the studio and added: “When we get it all together, we’ll decide to do a record. That may be a year from now or half-a-year from now”. The guitarist has also said that they’re not going to go on tour for another year-and-a-half tour for the rest of their lives.
