The first single titled I Am Your Country from the debut album by Painted Shield, the new band by Stone Gossard and Mason Jennings, is out today.
The homonymous debut record of the band, produced by John Congleton, will be released on November 27th by Loosegrove Records, the record company owned by Stone Gossard and Regan Hagar, that went back to work after 20 years of inactivity.
“It felt right that now was the time to start Loosegroove back up” says Hagar. “Once I heard the Painted Shield record, I knew that it had to be the first album we put out. It’s a brilliant album”.
Painted Shield are Stone Gossard, Mason Jennings, Brittany Davis and Matt Chamberlain. Pearl Jam guitarist wrote the music while Mason Jennings took care of the lyrics. Other artists featured on Painted Shield album include Mike McCready, Jeff Ament, Lonnie Marshall, Josh Freese, Om Johari and Jeff Fielder.
“I love making music, and I especially love collaborating with other musicians” Gossard said in a statement. “I’ve been a huge fan of both Stone and Matt for years” Jennings said. “I listen to a lot of electronic and heavy rock music, but most of what I do is my voice and an acoustic guitar. I was excited by the idea of bringing that intimate side of what I do to this mega sound they were creating.”
