The Sun reports that Matt Cameron could be the drummer for Foo Fighters on their upcoming US and Canada dates.
According to The Sun, Matt Cameron could be the Foo Fighters drummer for their gigs across the United States and Canada between May and September 2023.
Matt Cameron could therefore become their live drummer in place of the late Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters drummer from 1997 to 2022 who passed away on March 25 last year. Also according to The Sun, The Foos would also be considering Angels & Airwaves drummer Atom Willard as a second drummer, who would be on rotation with Cameron.
According to an insider quoted in the article, both drummers have been rehearsing at Studio 606, the Foos’ studio.
Matt Cameron and Taylor Hawkins have been friends for years and also shared a side project, Nighttime Boogie Association, releasing a single in 2020. Cameron was at one of the two tribute concerts to Hawkins, the one that took place in Los Angeles in September 2022, where he played with Dave Grohl’s band a powerful rendition of Low from One By One, the 2002 Foo Fighters’ record.
While we are waiting for confirmation on whether or not Matt Cameron is going to join the Foo Fighters for their upcoming tour, below you can watch the video of Low played by The Foos with Cameron on drums.
