Shane MacGowan, The Pogues frontman and Punk Icon, died Nov. 30, his family announced. He was 65.
“This Lance Mercer shot is the only photo of our one time “interaction” with the Prince of Ireland Shane MacGowan” Jeff Ament wrote on his Instagram. “At this very moment, Shane tip-toed by and took the only four cans of Harp lager from the cooler in our dressing room. I felt like we had been properly christened on this first trip to one of my favorite places. Elvis Costello brought him in and had questions about Stone’s acoustic-electric git. RIP, Shane. Thanks for taking R&R to the edges. Condolences to Victoria Mary Clarke Angels.”
