“Drum Performance of The Decade!” Andy Watt wrote on his Instagram.
Matt Cameron wrote on his Instagram: “Wow! Super stoked to be included in this year’s Modern Drummer readers poll. This track came together quickly and captured by the amazing Andrew Watt. I had finished a full day of tracking with PJ and before I left for the hotel I was messing around with a random beat floating around in my head. Andrew enthusiastically told me to play it again. He recorded the beat and gave it to Jeff Ament to work out some parts. We showed up the next morning and Jeff and Stone Gossard inserted their riffs into the beat with Andrew helping with the arrangement. We bashed out the rhythm track in a couple of hours, gave it to Ed Vedder for his trademark brilliant vocals and boom it was done. Many thanks to Modern Drummer for the support in my career and the drumming community.”
Jeff Ament texted about this nomination on his IG, “One of the most fun and rewarding band tracks we’ve ever done, born outta vintage Matt Cameron epicness! Much deserved!”.
Andy Watt also praised Cameron, writing on his social platforms: “There’s no reason for nominees…. Drum Performance of The Decade!” .
