After giving a heartfelt, 15 minutes long speech, (in which the PJ singer made a reference to the fact that he listened to R.E.M.’s first album, ‘Murmur’, thousands of times in the summer of ’84, and also nominated Kurt Cobain), Ed Vedder joined the band from Athens on stage to sing the classic ‘Man on the Moon’ with Michael Stipe. Prior to this, R.E.M. (in their ‘original’ line-up: Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Bill Berry) played ‘Begin the Begin’ and a great version of ‘Gardening at Night’, dedicated to Kurt Cobain. The band from Athens also played a Stooges cover, ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, with Patti Smith. During the grand finale, all the artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yesterday (The Ronettes, Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash, Van Halen and R.E.M.) and other artistss (such as Keith Richards, who inducted The Ronettes), joined together to sing the famous ‘People Have The Power’.
Transcript of Ed Vedder’s speech inducting R.E.M into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame available here.

Saturday night, Ed Vedder made a surprise appearance at Bar East, on First Avenue in New York, during a concert by The Tangents. Eddie jumped onstage and joined the band for a couple of songs, including a hot cover of ‘All along the watchtower’ by Bob Dylan. Who are The Tangents? It’s the band of Miles Robbins, 14 years old, son of Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Vedders longtime friends [Video].

As Billboard reports, Pearl Jam will headline the next Lollapalooza festival. Organized by Perry Farrell, the festival will be held in Chicago from August 3-5, 2007. The last time Pearl Jam played at Lollapalooza was in 1992, shortly after ‘Ten’ came out. According to the article, the Lollapalooza date is expected to be part of a handful of North American shows (which have yet to be announced) on the back of a previously announced European tour that begins June 8 in Lisbon.
Billboard has also confirmed a rumor that Pearl Jam OnLine.it had previously reported: the Pearl Jam singer will be inducting R.E.M. into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on March 12, 2007 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. The 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be broadcasted live on VH1 Classic starting at 8:30pm ET.
In celebration of that, Pearl Jam OnLine.it presents its new J.F.Mp3 of the month (link) a historical duet between Vedder and the lead singer of R.E.M., Michael Stipe. For Vedder, this is the third induction speech, after those for Neil Young [1995] and The Ramones [2002], whose transcripts are available in interviews (italian only).
Update 04/26/2007
Here’s a list of the support acts that will open for Pearl Jam during their summer 2007 European Tour.
Note: some of these PJ shows will take place in festivals (we have marked them in dark grey), so in this case the bands that will perform before the Seattle band cannot be considered as real ‘support acts’.

These days, two rumors have been floating around the web, but none of them has been officially confirmed yet. The first one is pretty much certain: Eddie Vedder will induct R.E.M. into the RNR Hall of Fame on March 12 (this is what has been reported in the print edition of US Rolling Stone). For Vedder, it would be the fouth induction cerimony, after those for The Doors, Neil Young and The Ramones.
The second rumor, pretty unlikely for now, is about a possible Vedder partecipation in a Doors reunion. This rumor spread after the Doors drummer himself, John Densmore, gave an interview in which he revealed he’d consider ending his stand-off with his bandmates if the Pearl Jam singer agreed to front them for 40th anniversary shows.
As we previously reported, Ed Vedder & Boom will appear at Kokua Festival, a benefit concert organized by Jack Johnson and friends, set for April 21-22, 2007 in Hawaii. More interesting news about this event come from My Space : all the shows will be broadcasted as well as behind-the-scene footage and interviews, here at this link. Plus, a one-hour special on the 2006 Kokua Festival will air on the National Geographic Channel in 50 countries starting April 1, 2007.
Talking about new Pearl Jam collaborations…. Stone Gossard will appear on the Weapon of Choice retrospective DVD (which you can buy in the ‘Goods’ section of Ten Club), while a live version of PJ’s ‘Last kiss’, taken from the 2006 World Wide Tour, will be included in the DVD extra’s of the “After innocence” documentary, a shocking investigation made by Jessica Sanders and Marc Simon about judicial errors in death-penalty cases.
PEARL JAM will be back in Italy for a single show in 2007, during a small European tour of 13 dates around the old contry.

Other news report that Pearl Jam, amongst many other artists, will be invited to perform at “World Peace One”, a big humanitarian event which is going to take place on August 11 in 190 counties all over the world. At the moment is still unconfirmed whether Pearl Jam will perform at the event or not.
The result is a band called Von Nord (from the North) that will attend the next Pearl Jam tribute on 24th April at the Rinbow Club in Milan, performing songs of Brad, Satchel, Malfunkshun & others.

These days, rumors are floating around the web (and not only) about a possible Pearl Jam comeback in Europe in May/June 2007. The same rumors also report that the Seattle band could perform on the second night of the annual Heineken Jammin’ Festival in Italy along with the Racounters and the Velvet Revolver. Other possible Pearl Jam live appearances could include Rock Am Ring and Rock in Park festivals and some dates in Poland. Other rumors report that the long-awaited-and-still-to-be-announced DVD, documenting the italian shows in September 2006, could see the light in August 2007 (a combo publication could be announced: DVD + CD).
Have all these rumors been confirmed? NO. We just have to wait for an answer from the Ten Club or Synergy, the only ones that can confim or deny any rumor. Stay tuned!
The Ten Club has just revealed the tracklist of the 2006 annual single, that will be sent home to all the active members of the Seattle band’s fan club:
SIDE A: “Love reign o’er me”, Who cover, performed by Pearl Jam and produced by Brendan O’Brien from the upcoming Sony Motion Picture “Reign Over Me” (tough this song will probably not be featured in the movie OST)
SIDE B: “Rockin’ in the free world”, Neil Young cover, performed by Pearl Jam, featuring Bono and The Edge from U2 from the Make Poverty History concert on November 17th, 2006 in Melbourne, Australia.
The Ten Club will start sending out the annual sigle to all the active members in February. The artwok will be posted as soon as possible.
