Inspired by Dark Matter and Eddie’s poignant vocals, SeaLegacy’s video amplifies the urgent call to action for our planet’s future, revealing the plight of our world through nature’s lens. In this era of rapid environmental change, endangered marine species and vulnerable coastal Indigenous communities face mounting threats.
Renowned photographer and filmmaker Paul Nicklen, together with creative producer and film editor Jason Smith, combine Nicklen’s breathtaking imagery with Pearl Jam’s passionate appeal for collective action. Together, they shine a spotlight on the urgent need to combat overfishing, pollution, and the devastating impacts of climate change on our oceans and marine life.
Co-founded by Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier in 2014, SeaLegacy is dedicated to inspiring a global community to fall in love with the ocean. Through world-class visual storytelling, they aim to galvanize a network of changemakers and drive diplomatic solutions that protect the world’s most precious ecosystems. By merging art with activism, SeaLegacy delivers hope and compels people to take action for the future of our planet. Rise up and be the voice for our ocean at SeaLegacy.org. Now.
“We are on the front lines of a new climate era: a world built on stolen lands, waters, and futures”, Pearl Jam wrote on their Instagram page, “Without our voices for the oceans and the Earth, our fellow species will vanish in silence. Change begins with awareness and the courage to act. Rise up and be the voice for our ocean at SeaLegacy.org.”
